Eagle's Nest Program of Academic Distinction

Dedicated to excellence in education

  • Eagle's Nest Program of Academic Distinction

Erie’s Public Schools, in partnership with Eagle’s Nest Leadership Corporation, has launched Eagle’s Nest Program of Academic Distinction, a unique and innovative academic program for students in kindergarten, sixth, seventh and eighth grades.

The only program of its kind in the region, Eagle’s Nest emphasizes civility and character development and offer students a specialized, Afrocentric curriculum. Students will study English/language arts, math, science and social studies, but do so as part of a broader exploration of African heritage and cultures and the African-American experience throughout history.

The program is secular and open to students of all races. Eagle’s Nest is one of a growing number of programs the district is offering to families as they consider what pathway to educational success is best suited to their child.

Eagle’s Nest is housed at 1133 Pennsylvania Avenue, though students will take their related arts classes – music, art, and physical education – at the Boys and Girls Club of Erie as part of an agreement with the nonprofit organization. Students are Erie’s Public Schools students and are taught by Erie’s Public Schools teachers.
