  • John C. Diehl Elementary School - Home of the Eagles

John C. Diehl Elementary School is a neighborhood public elementary school located at 2327 Fairmont Parkway in Erie, Pennsylvania. We currently have about 500 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Five.

Our school focuses on meeting the needs of each of our students while teaching a specific sequence of content in each grade level. Diehl Elementary School’s curriculum parallels the recently adopted PA Common Core Standards. These standards require a rigorous and comprehensive academic curriculum and range of subjects including:  World History, Geography, American History, the Sciences, Literature, Writing, Mathematics, Visual Arts, and Music.

Diehl Elementary School embraces diversity.  The children and families in our school community are a diverse cross section of many different cultures, ethnic groups and languages. John C. Diehl Elementary School has an English as a Second Language Program. We educate children from 24 different countries, who speak 15 different languages. The students speak Bosnian, Spanish, Arabic, Albanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Sudanese, Somalian, Swahili, French, Kirundi, Bantu, Burmese, Vietnamese, Nepali, and Mai-Mai.

John C. Diehl Elementary School has twenty-three dedicated and experienced classroom teachers, four special education teachers, and two School-Wide Specialists who provide special help in Reading and Math. We also have two full-time teachers who provide instruction for our English Language Learners.  Our related arts teachers provide music, art, and physical education classes on a weekly basis.  In addition, we have a guidance counselor and a speech therapist. Our school operates on the full-inclusion model. This allows us to accommodate children's special needs within the regular classroom.
