Our building is located at 816 Park Avenue North in Erie, Pennsylvania. Recent renovations have maintained the integrity of our school, built in the 1915, while modernizing classrooms offices, and community spaces. Emerson-Gridley is in the center of an urban neighborhood with both single and multiple family homes. Situated across from Gridley Park, we are fortunate to have our beautiful playground and outdoor classroom for our students’ use. We are mainly a neighborhood school; however recent boundary changes include students who have access to school district transportation.
Our school families represent many diverse cultures and ethnic groups. Currently we have 600 students in Grades K – 6. In addition to our regular education classes, we are proud to have several resources for students with special needs. Our office staff consists of our administration, a full-time counselor, behavior interventionist, secretary and nurse. There are over sixty instructional, non-instructional, maintenance and service personnel. Our dedicated faculty provides a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment for each child. The curriculum content includes Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Writing. Art, Music, Physical Education, Computer Lab, Anti-Bullying Lessons, and Library are also incorporated into our schedule.
Our school encourages character education with a focus on No Bullying. Quarterly Achievement Assemblies showcase our students with perfect attendance, honor cards, and other special achievements. Our after-school Gr. 6 GEARS and Gr. 3 - 5 Gearing Up programs are a great success, and our 5th and 6th grade students enjoy intramural sports and spring basketball. Teachers at all grade levels plan educational field trips and use incentive programs in their classrooms to encourage positive behaviors. Our PTA volunteers have helped with school fundraising, and have organized our school’s Book Fair and Parent Luncheon, Fundraisers, Gingerbread Shop, and Family Movie Nights. Local community churches are also involved with our school, providing school supplies, school clothing, cold weather outdoor clothes, and holiday baskets to those in need. Our partnership with Gannon University has been a great resource, and through their generosity we have had school speakers, volunteers, and community involvement that benefits our school.
We are Proud to Be Emerson-Gridley!
